Large, round brooch with fire-gilded / hard-gilded metal. 

The setting is decorated with elaborate, circumferential filigree work (spiral pattern) and a corded edge. 

Central setting with a highly domed, intensely blue Lapis Lazuli in cabochon form with visible pyrite inclusions.

Due to color variations and professional soldering, it can be assumed that these parts may have been subsequently added in solid gold for better durability.
